Power System Analysis Engineer/Consultant

Who are we?

At Magnus Red Energy, we support market players (i.e. Transmission System Operators, Distribution System Operators, Traders and Power Exchanges) towards a single European electricity market and the integration of renewables as a driver to increase sustainability. We help them with implementation projects by delivering (cross border) program and project management services. We aim at strengthening our services related to business consulting & advisory services, such as data analysis, business analysis, contingency analysis and load-flow studies.

To realize this ambition, we are looking for complementary profiles to strengthen our pool of consultants with a Power System Analysis Engineer/ Consultant.

What will you do?

You will support international project teams that work on the integration of the single European electricity market. These teams need to define and design the international cooperation by e.g. developing methods, processes, IT and contracts. Eventually, these processes of different electricity organisations in Europe need to come together, which is a huge challenge.

Your role? You are the go-to analyst and advisor for any experimentation, simulation or study that might be required during the project phased from designing to implementation. You help scoping and executing the tests and analyses required to provide the desired insight and confidence in the solutions on the table. You are excellent in preparing and presenting outcomes of analysis, simulations or studies in a clear and understandable manner to various stakeholders with different levels of experience / knowledge.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • You are an expert and bring knowledge on modelling and behaviour of power systems and electricity grids
  • Prepare, contribute and/or perform high quality analysis and related reports
  • Develop models and tools for power system analysis

The request for analysis support typically consists of:

Theoretical and practical studies and investigations, related to:

  • Load flow studies and contingency analysis
  • Voltage control, frequency control and grid stability assessment
  • Energy efficiency, reliability and power quality
  • Grid integration of power electronics (e.g., HVDC)

Position Qualifications

We are looking for a Power System Analysis Engineer/Consultant who is driven by the challenges of the energy transition and the future power grid:

You have:

  • MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, preferable specialized in Power Systems and around 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of core working areas (Protection and Control, Power System Studies, Cross-zonal capacity calculation in day-ahead, intraday and/or balancing)
  • Experience with tools such as PSS/E, PowerFactory, TNA, ETAP, or similar
  • Attitude to take responsibility for own tasks, competences and beyond
  • Structured and pragmatic with an intrinsic focus of getting-things-done
  • Ability to make new contacts and maintain professional relationships internally and externally. Customer focus is your second nature and experience in consulting is preferred
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English required, Dutch language preferred and German is a pre
  • A visa/permit to work in the Netherlands and current residence in the Netherlands
  • Openness to travel abroad (about 20%)
